The current ecological crisis poses a significant threat to bee colonies and reminds us of the importance of preserving the balance of ecosystems. Nomadic bees, which are vital pollinators, play a significant role in supporting the biodiversity that sustains our lives. Without them, humanity would face devastating consequences.

In a world where every little action counts towards a better future, the MiEL project is taking an inspiring step towards creating a bee-friendly environment. Following the transformation of the gardens of Imaret and Mohammed Ali’s Museum into urban shelters for bees, with bee-friendly crops and practices, MOHA Research Center aims to attract more public gardens, institutions and individuals to adopt creative proposals in order to understand, appreciate and protect one of the most precious beings on the planet.

On Friday, 15 March 2024, in the event hall of Imaret, Professor C. Chalioris, Vice Rector of Finance, Planning and Development of the Democritus University of Thrace, and his research team from the Laboratory of “Reinforced Concrete and Seismic Design of Structures” and School of Engineering presented an innovative natural construction habitat for pollinators bees. Further, beekeepers and journalists discussed the organization and status of the hive, as well as the unknown and at the same time wonderful world of the bee.
