Sakip Sabanci Museum in the framework of the hosting exhibition in Istanbul “A Dynasty at the Bosphorus: Traces of the Muhammad Ali Pasha Family at the Atlı Köşk”, which featuring a selection of photographs and objects from the family’s past and opened on 17th of February 2018, organized a series of conferences on the Muhammad Ali Pasha Family members’ life stories, architectural legacy in Istanbul, and influences in Ottoman Empire’s and Turkey’s art and culture.
In this context, Mr. Heath Lowry, Emeritus Professor of Ottoman and Modern Turkish Studies at Princeton University and Bahçesehir University, made a presentation entitled “Remembering One’s Roots: Mehmed Ali Pasa of Egypt’s Links to the Macedonian Town of Kavala” and Mrs. Anna Missirian, President of MOHA Research Center, presented the topic “Restoration of Mehmed Ali Pasha’s Külliye and House in Kavala and Their impact on the Social and Cultural Urban Environment”.
